Little Dream House

It’s in my neighborhood. I’ve admired it since I was in high school. It reminds me of my great aunt’s house in Savannah GA, yellow but with dark green shutters and trim. I’ve tried to make portraits of it before unsuccessfully. This is just a sketch to see how I might treat a larger painting. Gouache, about 3″ x 4″. It’s the trees that do it for me.

I tried a limited palette in the one above to cast things for a certain warmer feeling. Acrylic gouache.

I forget what I was trying for above. These are also sketchbook thumbnails.

A sketchbook attempt of the yellow house and yard in my neighborhood.

Around about here I took my hand off this plow and gave the little dream house a rest, the last iteration in my “Big Comfort” sketchbook. It’s the sketchbook I will carry with me into the future, the picture book I’ve always wanted for myself.
